All charges are included in rental.
2. Arrivals and Departures
We are flexible where possible on time of arrival and departure. In high summer please do not arrive at your holiday cottage before 4pm and not later than 8pm. Full instructions on how to get here will be sent to you on confirmation of your holiday. On the morning of departure, please leave your cottage by 10am to allow our staff sufficient time to prepare the property for our next guests. We ask that you please leave the property as you found it. Please do not move furniture as this can cause damage both to the furniture and to the property.
3. Families and Children
All cottages except Honeymoon are suitable for children under normal supervision. We can provide a cot and high chair. The cot and high chair are available free of charge but must be requested in advance. Please note that guests should provide their own cot bedding as well as rubber undersheets for young children using the beds. Play area in the garden with swings, tree house and play house. Entrance and beach gates are key coded.
4. Pets
Guide dogs accompanying blind or partially sighted guests and hearing dogs accompanying deaf guests are accepted in all the cottages. No charge is made for a guide or hearing dog with you. We regret that no dogs, domestic pets or other animals or birds can be accepted in our cottages.
5. Basic Supplies
Apart from finding a well-equipped and comfortable cottage ready and waiting for your arrival, you will also find a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and some yummy homemade scones and jam.
A domestic starter pack of supplies includes toilet paper, kitchen roll, disposal bags, dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid and cleaning agent for the bathroom.
The village Supermarkets are open from 8am - 10pm 7 days a week and are of an excellent standard.
The Lis-Maura Farm Shop, our family gourmet farm shop, is just across the road from The Cottages and is open 7 days a week 9 – 6 Mon – Sat and 10 – 5 on Sundays.
6. Old Cottages
Three of our cottages Little Orchard, Honeymoon and Rose are well over 300 hundred years old, have been renovated and refurbished to a high standard and are full of charm and character. However, they were built long before the days of damp proof courses and cavity walls so some may show signs of damp, particularly in autumn and winter during long spells of wet weather. We do our best to ensure that the background heating is kept on sufficiently to compensate, even when the cottage is empty. At times when the air is warm and moist, condensation may be experienced. Opening one or two windows and allowing the air to circulate can usually alleviate this situation.
If you are particularly concerned about damp or condensation please speak to us before making a booking and we will provide a de-humidifier at no charge.
7. Smoking
Besides the fact that smoking is now illegal in the work place in Ireland, many of our guests are non-smokers and it is impossible to get rid of the smell of tobacco between bookings. We would request guests not to smoke in the cottages. We reserve the right to charge you for the dry cleaning of all fabrics in the cottage including the curtains if you or any of your guests smoke in the cottage.
8. The Gardens
The gardens at the cottages are for all to enjoy and we ask guests to respect the privacy of other guests at all times. Guests are free to pick flowers for their cottage on request.
9. Sea Views
Little Orchard, Rose Cottage, Thatcher’s Rest, The Apple Loft and Seabank all enjoy sea views and this is one of the very special features of a holiday at ‘The Cottages’
We would ask that guests do not obstruct the sea views of other cottages by moving picnic tables so that all may enjoy the ever-changing panorama of the sea.
10. Telephone and Internet Connection
Each cottage has two telephone line connections to enable guests to have both telephone and internet communications simultaneously. Full instructions are available.
A printout of all charges will be supplied at the end of your stay. Guests are responsible for all telephone charges which are nominal.
11. Smoke and Fire Alarm System
Each cottage has independent smoke and Heat Detector and Alarm System. The smoke alarm system is internal to each cottage and operates in the event of excessive smoke. The heat detector system in each cottage is connected direct to the fire station via a call center and operates only when the temperature exceeds a given level. In the event of a false call out due to misuse or tampering with the system the guest will be responsible for the substantial call out charge made by the fire brigade.
